How the SFM contributes to PBSAP & SDG targets

The Sustainable Forest Management Bill also contribute to national and international targets for the betterment of people and the environment. Here we share how the SFM satisfies targets from our own national plan for biodiversity called the Philippine Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan or PBSAP, and the UN development targets established in the Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs.

See these targets below, and how the SFM contributes to them. Or see them in a Google sheet here: https://bit.ly/sfmcontributions

About the Philippine Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan or PBSAP

The PBSAP is the Philippine’s plan in pursuing economic growth while protecting the environment. It notes 20 targets under the plan. It emphasizes that people are at the core of conservation, protection and rehabilitation, and developmental initiatives.

About the Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs

The SDGs are a collection of 17 goals designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all”. The SDGs were set in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and are intended to be achieved by the year 2030.
