Youth, local government, farmers, & environment groups launched a new movement for the country’s dwindling forests at the foothills of Mts. Banahaw-San Cristobal in Laguna province last Saturday, July 14, 2018.
Forests For Life (FFL) Movement aims to bring back biodiversity in the country’s rainforests with the help of all sectors and people from all walks of life.
Participants to the launch included Haribon members and individual volunteers, Rain Forest Restoration Initiative, San Cristobal Farmers Association, San Cristobal Young Farmers, Samahan ng mga Mamamayang Nagsasaka para sa Kaularan ng Banahaw or SAMAKABA, Environment and Natural Resources Guards Inc., volunteers from Cebu Pacific, Honda Foundation Inc., Pinnacle, National Power Corp., and Department of Environment and Natural Resources, representative from the office of the governor Provincial Government of Laguna Ramil Hernandez, and other local government officials and offices.
How can you take part in the movement?
Each tree needs a supporter.Through Adopt-A-Seedling you can take part in the movement without getting your hands dirty or feet wet.
Join a tree planting.Every year tree plantings take place in the Forests for Life movement. Join the next one by contacting corporaterelations@haribon.org.ph.
Enroll your own tree planting site.No one can do it alone. If you have existing native trees planted or plan to plant native trees on your land, include it in the movement! Simply enroll via the Forests for Life enrollment form on Google forms. Each enrolled site will be counted in the cumulative areas planted with native trees as part of the movement, and a Certificate of Recognition will be given to the enrollee.
